Meet Elizabeth Jones, a passionate musician who found her calling in the low tones of the viola. Hailing from the beautiful city of Lexington, Kentucky, Elizabeth’s journey into the world of music began as a “Suzuki kid” as a viola student of Donna Wiehe. Her musical studies led her to pursue a Bachelor of Music in Viola Performance at the University of Michigan, followed by a Master of Music in Viola Performance and Pedagogy at Northern Illinois University. She spent four years in doctoral studies at the University of Kentucky, where she also had the privilege of playing in the Niles Graduate Quartet.
For a decade, Elizabeth shared her passion and expertise teaching string orchestras within the public school system. Her dedication was duly recognized when she was honored as the District 2 High School Music Teacher of the Year in 2019 during her tenure at Owensboro Public Schools.
As an active performer, Elizabeth plays on stage as a member of the Lexington Philharmonic, Orchestra Kentucky, and Cave Run Symphony viola sections. Her musical journey also sees her as the Assistant Principal Viola with the Owensboro Symphony.
Elizabeth is thrilled to open the doors to Studio E in Lexington and Owensboro where she looks forward to making music with aspiring violin and viola students.
